LOUISVILLE, Ky– They were “energized.” The final of this week’s legislative committee meetings in Louisville saw the special Energy Subcommittee meeting Friday morning at General Electric’s Appliance Park.
GE updated lawmakers on everything it’s working on, including the creation earlier this year of several hundred new jobs with the announcement that the next generation of water heaters would be made in Louisville, instead of in China.
GE Consumer & Industrial division President & CEO Jim Campbell told the panel there could be another product line joining it in the next few years, but didn’t offer specifics on what kind of product it would be, or how many more jobs would be involved.
House Speaker Pro Tem Larry Clark called the session “productive.” Subcommittee Chairman, Senator Brandon Smith, likes that his panel tackles energy from all angles– the greenest new alternatives, to finding the best uses for Kentucky coal. He says working together’s the way to keep the commonwealth competitive on energy.
